Christmas comes but once a year…. And those that know us well, know that we like to embrace it and ensure our valued staff get a festive treat with a twist!
Over the year’s we celebrated the festive season having fun in many ways, such as travelling by speedboat to a hotel in the Solent, commuted to London to find a mystery restaurant, embraced day trips to such places as Bath and even pitched up at film orientated parties. However this year our treat was to head to the famous Chewton Glen and treat everyone to a private Cookery School at their highly regarded ‘Kitchen’
We arrived for 9.30am greeted by our Head Chef Steve, fresh coffees and a run through of the day.
On the menu for us to create was the following:
- Spiced salmon with pickled red cabbage and watercress yoghurt
- Curried scallop soup with cauliflower textures
- Roast poussin farcie with seasonal accompaniments
- Moroccan-spiced chicken with butternut squash
- Bruleéd eggnong tartlets with clementines
Throughout the day we had briefs and demonstrations, a tour of the impressive kitchen and grounds, learning new skills such as de boning a poussin & learning the secret to correctly cooking scallops, all while enjoying plenty of fizz and healthy competition. A fantastic day out was had by all.
When we finished at approximately 3:30pm we rested our feet in the bar, toasted our efforts with another glass and got to enjoy our creations. We also had plenty left over to take home to enjoy.
