The Assistant Accountant will provide support across the Finance function, primarily assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and data analysis, as well as having the opportunity to assist with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Budgeting, Forecasting and business specific reporting.
This role requires excellent attention to detail, as well as technical ability in terms of supporting finance software and associated reporting. Working within a small Finance team, good communication is essential as well as an appreciation of the importance of meeting reporting deadlines, both internally and externally.
As the Assistant Accountant you will have the opportunity to learn and support all aspects of the Finance function and will be encouraged to identify and suggest improvements to benefit the immediate team and the wider company.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparation of monthly ledger reconciliations and identification of incorrect postings
Assisting the Management Accountant at month end to prepare detailed variance analyses
Supporting the Company’s annual budgeting process with detailed analysis
Reporting the Company’s cashflow and presenting weekly reports to the Head of Finance
Supporting the Company’s annual audit as required
Supporting internal and external audits – tax, financial and internal
Assisting with the improvement and/or implementation of financial policies
Supporting the preparation of annual tax returns
Analysis of royalty reports
Managing reporting templates, including annual statutory returns and financial statements
Assisting with transactional processing duties
Providing cover for all aspects of the Finance function
To be considered for this position, we would like to see some previous accounting experience but from a Practice background. It is also important that the chosen candidate is either AAT or part CIMA or ACA. You will need intermediate Excel skills and familiarity with Sage but that is easily trained.
