Reporting directly to a CEO, the Financial Controller role involves both operational responsibilities and for the successful candidate to be willing and ready to be a strategic partner to the management team.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The scope of the role entails managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and coordinating with various departments to support strategic decision-making.
Our client are bringing intuitive technology to the platforms space, they are a regulated investment platform who are a growing player in the FinTech space. Their platform focuses on exceptional user experience and intuitive technology, also providing clients with access to a wide range of financial products and services. Over the past two years, the company more than doubled its assets and is continuing to experience exponential growth. With a focus on tech, they offer clients multiple packages, including managed services, SaaS and white-labelling, licensing, and more.
The primary responsibilities of the Financial Controller will be:
Analyse financial data and present timely, accurate and useful reports to senior management
Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions
Develop and manage the annual budgeting process
Provide financial forecasts based on business trends and analysis
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Lead and develop the finance team, providing guidance and support
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
Work with external auditors and tax consultants to facilitate audits
Oversee the implementation and optimisation of ERP systems
Key skills & experiences we are looking for:
ACCA or CIMA qualified.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller .
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
Strong ethical standards & integrity.
Ability to analyse and make recommendations, alongside the capacity to drive through key business changes.
Strong business acumen and understanding of financial issues.
Knowledge of Consumer Duty FCA principle 12 - advantageous
