We have an opportunity for a Buyer who is looking for that next step up in their career, to join this leading Buying group who have an incredible reputation across the UK and European markets. In this new Buying position you will support all aspects of the purchasing relationship between the business and their suppliers, focusing on finding new business opportunities in your primary division of the business.
You will be directly responsible for your own portfolio of suppliers which collectively contribute to the company turnover. You will also be required to identify through market research and industry analysis new opportunities in order to grow and expand your sector.
This role would suit someone with buying or product management experience and particularly where you have negotiated with suppliers and had responsibility for forecasting and planning.
Providing some analytical data to support decision making is key in this role. It is also important that you have the ability to communicate effectively with the confidence to influence and engage at all levels.
You will have at least two year's experience in the following key areas:
Previous retail or buying experience with responsibility for own suppliers
Some experience in a similar role in reviewing competitor information, analysing data and presenting findings via reports as well as presentations for all levels of the business
Previous buying experience which must include negotiated terms contracts, understanding promotional calendars and forecasting/planning tools
Some experience of sourcing new business opportunities
Previous experience of project work
Previous negotiation experience
Ability to manage and motivate a small team
Essential Skills required:
The ability to negotiate and manage trading terms contracts
Ability to analyse and interpret data and reports and present in a meaningful way to others
Strong computer skills in all areas of Microsoft
Ability to deal with data using Excel to a high standard (including pivot tables and v-look-up)
Able to present data gathered and other relevant information
Excellent telephone communication skills
Smart and tidy appearance
Good communicator/presenter both internally and externally at all levels
Accurate, methodical and attention to detail are essential
Working within a small but busy team which has seasonal peaks you will have the ability to prioritise and plan your workload
Proven track record of meeting deadlines
Proven track record of working in a flexible and adaptable environment
This new role is office based in Andover but some occasional travel will be required within the UK and occasionally overseas and a clean driving license is essential. This is a full time role Mon-Fri.
