​The role of Engineering Supervisor will be to lead and manage the daily activities of all day shift, asset care engineers & apprentices and contractors working on your shift, ensuring that all activity conforms to Health and Safety and Food Safety legislation..

Engineering Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Direct line supervisor to all day shift, asset care engineers & apprentices.

  • Complete engineers PDP’s.

  • Priorities and arrange daily, weekly work schedules for the day shift engineers, asset care engineers & apprentices.

  • Liaise closely with operation, planning & the reliability engineering to arrange servicing / rebuilds of equipment.

  • Liaise with reliability engineering on PM’s and equipment required for rebuilds. View all PM’s currently on system and create PM for new equipment.

  • Proactively reviewing machine data from Holistech to eliminate repeat visits for the same issue.

  • Identify what parts are required to complete overhauls and liaise with stores for price & availability.

  • Arrange for contractors to attend site for breakdowns or servicing.

  • Stand in for Engineering Manager when required.

    • Deputise in all relevant meetings

    • Update/escalate to Chief Engineer

    • Manage workload for all engineering e.g. shift engineers and site services

Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Operate a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) including:

  • Spare part usage

  • Safety risk assessment

  • Machine settings

  • Condition monitoring, machine routine inspections, autonomous, preventative and predictive maintenance routines

  • Work order system, generation and recording of work completed.

  • Individual Engineers and or teams performance against expected targets.

  • Report generation

  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) generation and monitoring, using the information gathered to improve the performance of the company assets.

  • Ensure there is a comprehensive asset care/maintenance system in place to monitor and manage the engineering activities with particular reference to cost control, manpower, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and stock holding.

  • Ensure the business meets its legal and legislative obligations with respect to plant safety, environmental and energy efficiency/emissions.

  • Ensure that Health & Safety is given a high priority and is considered in all plans, actions and activities. Play a key role in promoting Health & Safety awareness on site.

  • Appraise and regularly review direct report

Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Health and Environment

  • Ensure all engineering work carried out by the respective team meets the requirements of Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Health and Environment legislative policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates engineering best practice at all times.

  • Ensures engineering workshops are maintained and audited on a regular basis, and kept in a clean and auditable state.

  • Follow site contractor control procedure, for the management of contractors, which will include: Meet and greet, diary checks, permits to work, risk assessments and method statements, GMP in line with company policy.

Specific skills requirements include:

  • Time served apprenticeship strong written, numerical and verbal, MS Office and CMMS system experience

  • Specialisation in either mechanical or electrical engineering

  • Strong leadership, motivational and organisational skills

  • Team orientated to enable engineering department to reach targets

  • Ability to drive change

  • Committed to personal development

  • Able to learn and adapt quickly in an ever changing environment

  • Set priorities and meet strict deadlines
