So on Tuesday, I had the pleasure of playing in Emery Little Financial Services charity golf day raising money for two incredible charities The Stars Appeal and Salisbury Hospice. The 2016 ‘ELFS‘ annual golf day took place at the fantastic Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club. Conditions were positively tropical. The day began with soaring temperatures, so sun cream & shorts was the order of the day (for me at least). However by the afternoon, I couldn’t have been more inappropriately dressed!
The dream team consisted of myself along with some familiar ‘bandits’ to the local tour; Spire FM’s Martin Starke, Jim Murrell of Innotec Supplies & Simon Hedges of NFU Mutual. We started the day at a blistering pace, birdies were flying in, that was until the weather took hold…. With six holes to play the siren rang out and the course emptied of players whilst the lightning flashed all around and the heavens opened.
Settled in the club house, safe and eventually dry, we were entertained by Mr Gibbens’ one liners and well fed before the trophies were handed out. Despite our valiant efforts in the field we finished 4th, the eventual winners were Fawcetts Accounting.
However, the biggest success of the day was the incredible £2246 generated by all participants.
A cracking day, excuse the pun! Look forward to a day out with ELFS next term.
