​​We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join a growing business in Salisbury who can be responsible for the purchase of Products with the aim of meeting agreed delivery dates of the order book taking into consideration the cost levels, stock levels and delivery timescales. You will directly manage a small team of Purchasing Administrators and Coordinators to assist you in the daily activities within the business, so some previous line management experience is going to be useful in this role.

About you: We are looking for an excellent relationship manager who can demonstrate strong negotiation skills to gain the best value whilst maintaining good business relationships with suppliers. You will need to showcase excellent prioritisation skills to efficiently rank duties in terms of importance and ensure you and your team achieve the goals you lay out.

You will be responsible for all stock management, ensuring inventory is kept to a minimum without affecting manufacture or customer service. In this role you will have a close working relationship with the manufacturing and technical teams within the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Minimise the stock value held without impinging on customer service or manufacturing efficiency

  • Source competitive and alternative suppliers and/or materials

  • Work with manufacturing teams to resolve issues that effect quality or deliveries

  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain best price, payment and delivery times

  • Review the mRP systems ensuring they are in line with all requirements

  • Maintain supplier files, including records of product defects, supply information

  • Generate monthly, year end and other stock reports

  • Oversee the running of MRP and associated purchasing and works orders

  • Assist in the purchase of all capital plant and machinery, ensuring compliance, best value and payment terms etc.

  • Management and compilation of all key documentation for exporting and importing of products

  • Compile and submit management reports to the Operations Manager

It is important that you can bring with you a Purchasing pedigree specifically from an Engineering/Technical or Manufacturing environment.

The role is full time, based in Salisbury. Multiple benefits come with the role, including a 1pm Friday finish.
