An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary or Assistant to join the Commercial Property team of a long-established, highly respected law firm based in Salisbury.
This role offers the chance to work closely with a Partner in a friendly and professional team, supporting a busy caseload across all aspects of commercial property work including sales, purchases, leases, and property finance.
The firm is open to considering experienced legal secretaries, law graduates looking for hands-on experience in a legal environment, or skilled administrators from other professional sectors with transferable skills.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of client matters, ensuring an efficient and high-quality service is delivered.
Typical duties include:
Typing and document preparation, with accuracy and attention to detail.
Liaising confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
Managing client files opening, updating, archiving, and maintaining accurate records.
Handling post, phone calls, and general administrative support.
Organising meetings and appointments.
Photocopying, scanning, and preparing legal documents for signing (including via DocuSign).
Carrying out AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks and ordering property searches.
Submitting SDLT returns to HMRC and registering transactions with the Land Registry.
Preparing and sending bills, payment requests, and liaising with accounts.
Managing payments to third parties and obtaining funds on account.
About You
We’re looking for someone organised, professional, and proactive, a true team player who takes pride in delivering a first-class service.
You will ideally have:
Previous secretarial or administrative experience (legal sector preferred but not essential).
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Confidence to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.
Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Outlook; familiarity with legal accounts software would be an advantage.
The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks calmly and efficiently.
This role would also suit a law graduate seeking valuable experience in a well-regarded legal practice, or an experienced secretary from another professional environment keen to move into the legal sector.
