An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary or Assistant to join the Commercial Property team of a long-established, highly respected law firm based in Salisbury.

This role offers the chance to work closely with a Partner in a friendly and professional team, supporting a busy caseload across all aspects of commercial property work including sales, purchases, leases, and property finance.

The firm is open to considering experienced legal secretaries, law graduates looking for hands-on experience in a legal environment, or skilled administrators from other professional sectors with transferable skills.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of client matters, ensuring an efficient and high-quality service is delivered.

Typical duties include:

  • Typing and document preparation, with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Liaising confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties.

  • Managing client files opening, updating, archiving, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Handling post, phone calls, and general administrative support.

  • Organising meetings and appointments.

  • Photocopying, scanning, and preparing legal documents for signing (including via DocuSign).

  • Carrying out AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks and ordering property searches.

  • Submitting SDLT returns to HMRC and registering transactions with the Land Registry.

  • Preparing and sending bills, payment requests, and liaising with accounts.

  • Managing payments to third parties and obtaining funds on account.

About You

We’re looking for someone organised, professional, and proactive, a true team player who takes pride in delivering a first-class service.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous secretarial or administrative experience (legal sector preferred but not essential).

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

  • Confidence to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Outlook; familiarity with legal accounts software would be an advantage.

  • The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks calmly and efficiently.

This role would also suit a law graduate seeking valuable experience in a well-regarded legal practice, or an experienced secretary from another professional environment keen to move into the legal sector.

Why Apply?

  • Work directly with an experienced Partner in a busy and supportive team.

  • Join a reputable, well-established firm with a positive and professional culture.

  • Gain valuable exposure to a broad range of commercial property matters.

  • Excellent opportunity for development and long-term career progression within a respected Salisbury law firm.
