We have a new role available for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client, a leading supplier of high pressure packaged engineered solutions. Their products have an enviable reputation for technical excellence, reliability and longevity; qualities which come from more than forty years of manufacturing experience.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be expected to carry out drawing updates, engineering calculations and general engineering duties. You will liaise between technical and production departments on quality and productions matters capturing, logging and promoting good engineering practice at all times.

This role will offer scope for design and testing of your own projects and will suit an ambitious Engineer who likes to take ownership of projects from inception to completion.

It is essential that you have a familiarity of AutoCad 2D with Inventor 3D. An interest in hydraulics and electromechanical control systems would be an advantage.

Our client wishes to bring a candidate in who can bring designs through, both aesthetically and of a sound engineering manner.

Key duties will include:

  • Carrying out drawing changes and modelling existing parts into the 3D library

  • Technical calculations determining UTS of components to ensure that safety factors are maintained

  • Supporting procurement by advising on purchase order technical specifications

  • Understanding of piping and electrical diagrams

  • Bills of Materials (BOM) Management

  • Hands on building of prototype

  • Recording, detailing and implementing production change requests in conjunction with the production department

  • Working with the quality department to ensure that quality issues are reported to the engineering department and products are continuously improved

  • Technical document management in conjunction with other departments

  • Applying company design standards to all processes

  • Project Management

The selected candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, an enthusiasm to be part of a team who at times 'muck in' to ensure the best for the customer. Key training will be provided and direct exposure to the senior team will be a regular feature.

This is a full time role based in Salisbury offering free parking.
